Charlie

Charlie, a Process Improvement Inspector, has worked at Lycoming Engines since November 25, 1977 and will celebrate 39 years with the company this fall. As a Process Improvement Inspector, Charlie is part of the final inspection team that gives the final OK to ship Lycoming engines out to customers. “When I went through training with the FAA, they told me that I was the ‘eyes of the customer’ in the factory,” Charlie said.

I can't even put into words how much change I've seen.

During his occupation with Lycoming, Charlie has performed a variety of tasks. “I’ve worked in so many places over the years,” Charlie said. In addition to final inspection, he’s also worked in machine repair, on the machine floor, in the cylinder cell, and in the experimental department.

“I’ve liked every place that I’ve worked. The jobs have always been interesting and challenging.”

Charlie especially enjoys the work he does now. “I am the last person to see the engine before it leaves our factory, and I like that a lot.”

In asking Charlie about the transformation of the factory over time, he said, “I can’t even put into words how much change I’ve seen. Lycoming is always working to improve our processes, improve our product and make the lives of those assembling the products better.”
