This Service Instruction is a field procedure to replace worn or damaged starter ring gears.

Next oil change or engine inspection, whichever occurs first, no later than August 31, 2014.
Evidence in the field has shown instances of chafing (Figure 1) on the turbocharger support rod (of affected Lycoming engine models). Figure 2 shows the proximity of the identification tag on an oil hose to one of the turbocharger support rods. Rub marks also were found in the turbocharger support rod where the paint/plating was worn away.
