Next maintenance event not to exceed 50 hours or before further flight if fuel leak found during preflight inspection.

In response to field reports of leaking Hartzell Engine Technologies’ (HET’s) fuel pump, Lycoming Engines requires replacement of all fuel pumps identified in Tables A and B with a verified fuel pump of the same part number.

To all owners and operators of Lycoming engine model O-360-A4M installed in Piper Archer III with AVStar carburetor model AV10-6102.

This Service Letter is notification of the following two product improvements by AVStar to carburetor model AV10-6102 (Lycoming P/N 61C26051). These product improvements have been incorporated into new O-360-A4M engines with Serial Numbers L-42322-36E and later and engines that were overhauled or rebuilt on or after November 13, 2013.

This Service Letter is to advise customers, operators and authorized Lycoming distributors that External  Retaining  Ring P/N  MS16624­37 is superseded by P/N MS16624­2037 External Retaining Ring  (zinc coated).

All fuel injected Lycoming engines indicated in fuel line and clamping diagrams.

TIME OF COMPLIANCE

Examine fuel lines every 100 hours, annual inspection, overhaul and any time fuel lines or clamps are serviced, removed, or replaced.
