All Lycoming aircraft engines.

TIME OF COMPLIANCE

Immediately after flight or ground operation in particulate-laden atmospheres.

This service instruction gives guidelines for operation, inspection, and service of Lycoming engines which have been operated in atmospheres that have particulate matter such as dust, sand, debris, and volcanic ash.

MODELS AFFECTED

All Lycoming aircraft engines using automotive fuel.

TIME OF COMPLIANCE

Before engine storage for a duration of 6-months or longer.

The Service Instruction only applies to Lycoming engines that have been operated on automotive fuel (as specified in the latest revision of Service Instruction No. 1070) and are to be stored for 6 or more consecutive months.

All Lycoming new, overhauled, or rebuilt turbocharged or turbo normalized engines, shown in Table 1, shipped before October 27, 2010 with HET or Kelly turbocharger installed and has less than 50 hours of service time (Refer to the attached Table 2 of HET Mandatory Service Bulletin 040 A) HET or Kelly turbocharger shipped as a spare part from Lycoming Engines before October 27, 2010 (Refer to the attached Table 1 and 1b of HET Mandatory Service Bulletin 040 A.)
